Solo Travel Forum & Find a Travel Buddy
In our small, but fine Solo Travel Forum for solo travelers, singles & friends you can exchange tips or meet with other solo travelers, find a travel buddy to travel a part of the way together, meet for a drink at the beach bar, find a travelmate who joins or joined one of the tours for solo travelers on Solo Travel, share your travel experiences with other solo travelers…
Rules & Advices:
Please always stay friendly and don’t forget to say thanks if someone gives you a good travel advice. Not wanted here are links to commercial pages outside of Solo Travel or dating posts. Warning: Name your exact location and travel period just in a private message to someone you’ve made sure to be trustworthy. If someone is behaving incorrectly, let us know.
Your profile besides your posts is only visible for also logged in users. Still you can delete your profile at any time and also request that all your posts be deleted. Please note the link below your profile picture on the right (or below if you’re currently using a mobile phone) after you have logged in. Also, if you click on your own profile next to your posts, you will find a link to the options for deleting yourself.
Why Facebook Login only?
This community for solo travelsers should not only enable the exchange of useful, trustworthy travel information and tips, but also concrete meetings with other solo travelers on the road or possibly even the planning and doing of whole trips (or parts of it) together. In order to assess the unknown online counterpart as quickly as possible (as regards trust and compatibility in terms of character, age, interests, etc.), we believe it makes sense to rely on relatively realistic Facebook profiles.
In general, however, we are in favour of anonymous and thus freer (albeit of course respectful) online expressions of opinion (above all on political issues) and clearly against non-anonymity on the net prescribed from above (especially by politicians). In the case of possible criminal offences, authorities will find someone “anonymous” for the general public anyways – so it’s not really necessary for the neighbour or potentially someone hostile to attribute an expressed opinion to one’s own person…
We will make it as easy as possible to delete your data at any time or to get a summary of the saved data (like forum posts) if you wish. Just have a look at your profile or write us (also suggestions or positive feedback are very welcome!).
Why not directly on Facebook then?
There’s thousands of Facebook groups, but there you’ll probably quickly be flooded with irrelevant posts, notifications and spam of other users. In a self-designed forum we have more design possibilities (as regards content as well as visually) and can therefore offer more structure and clarity (e.g. by creating subgroups for certain countries or depending on your emerging interests in discussion topics). Apart from that, we always find it nice (and delightful in terms of results!) when something is done by “little ones” if they can do it at least as well as the “big ones”! This usually requires a lot of courage and willingness to take risks, but in the end it often brings along advantages for everyone, because size is not always necessary or good in order to achieve better results (think of a nice family-run restaurant or an “indie” location provided and designed with love for the detail in comparison to a large, commercial one, for example…).
