Day 2 Chartwell and Westerham
After breakfast we depart on our excursion to Chartwell and Westerham. Chartwell country house is a National Trust property known for having been the home of Sir Winston Churchill – he and his wife having purchased it in 1922 and lived there with their family for the next forty years. Find out about his life as a soldier and journalist before he went on to serve as Prime Minister twice, including his significant leadership which led to victory in the Second World War. Today he is both a celebrated and contested figure and at Chartwell you will discover a man who loved painting, gardening and books; pictures and mementoes give a deeper insight into his life. After a guided tour with some free time to explore, we will stop in Westerham where you will have free time to explore the local town and enjoy a scenic walk through some of the woodlands and countryside. Later return to your hotel for a relaxed dinner.

Day 3 Sissinghurst and Tunbridge Wells
This morning after breakfast, travel to one of the most beautiful gardens in the world. Vita Sackville-West, the poet and writer fell in love with Sissinghurst Castle along with her author husband Harold Nicholson and created a world-renowned garden. The Castle itself has a fascinating history having served as a prison and the home of the women’s land army. Enjoy a visit to the castle and gardens – and don’t miss out on the spectacular views from the top of the Tower over the 450-acre estate. This afternoon we will take you to Royal Tunbridge Wells for a pub lunch before giving you free time to explore the town and The Pantiles – lined with lovely old shops. Famed for its Georgian and Victorian architecture – Royal Tunbridge Wells has been voted as one of the best places to live in England. Return to your hotel and this evening enjoy dinner with your travel companions.

Day 4 Leeds Castle
This morning after breakfast we travel to the iconic Leeds Castle – one of the most visited historic buildings in Britain. Find out about the Castle’s 900-year history – from being a Norman stronghold through 300 years of Royal ownership to then becoming Henry VIII’s resplendent Tudor Palace before finally falling into private ownership under Lady Baillie – a wealthy Anglo-American Heiress. After touring the spectacular Castle enjoy a cream tea before free time to get lost in the gardens and the famous maze! After a truly memorable visit we will return to the hotel to meet with your travel companions for your final dinner at the hotel.

This morning, after a leisurely breakfast, say farewell to your travel companions and Holiday Director as you return home after your short break to experience some of the finest Gardens of Kent.
